Find The Triggers
Before you can truly get over your anxiety, you need to figure out what the triggers are. No matter what makes you feel frightened, shaky and worried, you can identify what those triggers are and learn how to eliminate them from your life. You can't spend your time avoiding every trigger, but you can learn to overcome them and get a better understanding of how you feel about them. Meeting a fear of heights by going higher up the next hill, for example, and then pausing at the top to assess how you feel. Whenever you feel triggered, write it down and write down the emotions you're feeling.
Journaling
We just mentioned writing down your feelings. Try to spend some time identifying different thoughts and how they go off in a tangent. For example, if you're worried about flying, write down where your mind takes you - such as the plane crashing. Writing down the entire sequence in your mind can help you to learn how to shut it off. It'll help you to learn where your thoughts are going. Identifying your fears is the first step to over-coming them.
Challenge
If you confront your negative thinking and stop running from it, you can learn to better control those thoughts. Ask yourself what you would tell a friend in the same situation and take your own advice. Sometimes, perspective is needed.
Face The Fear
It's a scary thing to do, but sometimes, envisioning your fear is the best way to face it. You need to consider your fear in full detail and get through it. You can practice how you would beat whatever you fear in all situations. Fear is always worse than the reality.
Feel It
Go through the feelings instead of avoiding them. Remember that you are going through it in your mind and not for real. If you're not on a plane, it cannot crash, for example.
Get Back Up Again
It's so vital that when you fall down, you get up again. You will trip over as you try to make progress and you will go backwards before you go forward. It's part of the process - just keep going.
